The 18th Abduction Audible Audio Edition James Patterson Maxine Paetro January LaVoy Hachette Audio Books Reviews

  • I enjoyed the book but just have 2 questions for Mr Patterson. Where was Joe and lindsay beloved daughter and where was Brody Zuki husband? I have read every on of the series and was a bit irritated that there was no mention of the above.
  • This is a flashback book to the time before Joe cheated. Before Julie was born. This can be a little disorienting at first, but once you get into the book it does not take long to adjust. IF I had one complaint it might be to have known this was coming so that I could go back and reread the 9th through the 11th books. However, this seems to slip seamlessly between the old stories with little mention or overlap into the previous books.
As the book begins Lindsay and Joe are accompanying a friend, Anna, in to testify against a "red-faced hog" monster (ya gotta love that), but that is where the flashback begins. In the flashback Joe meets Anna for the first time as she sits by the side of the road disheveled and sobbing. She had just seen a man who had brutalized her several years before and had tried to chase him down on her bike until she had crashed. Lindsay is hot on the trail of three missing teachers from a local high end private school. To her surprise, not so much ours, this chase finds her following the trail into the seedier side of town searching for her next serial murderer.

There are probably some things they could have done better, but really this book is much better than the last few and I was very pleased to have ordered it early. It was an easy way to get Lindsay and Joe back on common ground without having to rehash all of the troubles from the last two books and the affairs, so that was a really nice relief.

    UPDATE
On further reflection I probably should mention that this book does contain some graphic scenes of a sexual and abusive nature. However, as a survivor of sexual assault it did not cause me any distress. If that is something that may affect you in a negative way you may want to use caution in selecting this book.
Contains some inappropriate language (yes several F-bombs). [Note to Ms. Paetro They are not necessary. The preview for the next book is already full of f-bombs, but I read this series because it did not have them.]
  • Great reading again by Patterson. Good story line couldn't put book down read it in two sittings. Can't wait for next book.
  • I always love James Patterson books, especially the woman murder club,I was a lil confused when some characters were not mentioned etc. Joe and Lindsey daughter. Also after the prologue it says 5 years ago.does that mean 5 years from our current time to make book a flashback,or is the 5 years already in the future making book in current time,if so..... Where is there daughter??? I have never written a review before that is questionable, don't leave readers hanging wondering what's going on please ,try to explain .I love your twists and turns and plot of story,Patterson's great storyteller prob best of this time, keep writing.
  • I really liked this book. I liked that there was a different story line in this book but was disappointed in it being back in the early days of Lindsay Boxer's marriage. I waited a year to find out about her disease and how it would work with her and of course being in the early days nothing was mentioned about it. Now I have to wait until October to find out about it. Please, if you leave us hanging again let us know what happens in the next book because that is long enough to wait to find out how things turn out. Thank you for not making us wait another year. I peeked at the 19th Christmas to see if you mentioned it in the book but did not read about it because I wanted to read it in the 19th Christmas (which I have pre-ordered) as I read all the book. Thanks again for not making us wait a year.
  • Very sad to say was soo disappointed in No 18 which we have waited a year for. Worse than No 17 which was pretty bad. Where is Lindsay and Joes little girl? How could she just be ignored after playing such a huge roll in previous books??!! There was not one surprise or curve ball in the entire book. Extremely predictable as was the previous book. Will not be waiting anxiously for the next boring installment of the Women’s Murder Club. The series is over for me.
  • I would have given it 5 stars if the author had not completely left out Lindsey and Joe's child. The dog was there, but not one mention of the baby they had. When you write a series like this you can't undo the baby you previously wrote about.
  • I got this yesterday by Mail and stayed up late reading, Definitely one of his best, but I say that every year when the Womens Murder Club is released. This series is EXCELLENT!!!
